a silver wind blew
as you left the room;
then we saw
the radiant head of god
rising out of the earth
in the reflection of the pool
i was watching you
lie down in the water
i was watching you
feel the river
it was a long black hallway
wait no – it was red
time poured through
all of the lines
which led to this
each time it is the night
hot tears shiver from my face
on a burning pine
what shudders in
from all edges and all sides
divine imminent death
